On Truth and Goodness

Eric Gill, a British Typographer, as quoted by Edward Tufte in Beatiful Evidence:

"If you look after truth and goodness, beauty looks after herself."

Amen - there is much beauty in simplicity and truthfulness. I love Tufte! I must be a geek for finding his books relaxing to read. Thanks to Brenda for a del.icio.us bookmark to that great listen on NPR.

Have you ever gone to one of Tufte's seminars? I'm trying to fit one into my schedule soon.

I love Tufte too. I have been to one of his seminars--many years ago, in California. It was terrific, but didn't tell me anything I hadn't read in his books. His ideas are fairly subtle, so it helps to come across them again and again. Guess I should listen to that NPR show.

no, i haven't made it to a Tufte seminar, but would love too. Anne, that's kind of too bad if it was the same as the books, I would have hoped for some fresh material or perhaps more current examples. oh well, it's great content anyhow. Yes, the NPR show is short and worth a listen. Maybe I'll suggest that Jon Udell do a Friday podcast with Tufte (or maybe he has?) - that would be a great listen!
